In 2016, we became familiar with the housing programs that are available to hospital patients and their caregivers through first hand experience. These wonderful programs allow out-state residents the opportunity to live at little or no charge during their treatment and recovery process. While these facilities provide exceptional kitchen space, often times meal preparation can be a burden. It was during this time we realized that when meals were brought in, it not only made this temporary living experience a little easier, but it brought people together.
While most meals are donated by private groups today, we realized that this might be a great opportunity for Twin Cities restaurants to give back to those in need. We also wanted to make it very simple for restaurants to participate. This program allows the restaurants to share their talents and have it served on their behalf. Additionally, we recognized that this would be a great way for others to volunteer and help serve these meals to the guests. Many of these guests are from 60-600 miles away from their home. Nothing feels better than giving and these people are so very greatfull.
